Everyone here on the Shelby’s Way Board of Directors is hard at work on 2017 events and fundraisers. I would like to announce the appointment of two new board members, Mike Johnson, who will be our Web Design Director and Nate Eldridge, who will be our new Marketing Director. I am excited to have Mike as a board member! He has always performed all our website work in the past, so it’s going to be a great advantage to have him at each board meeting. Nate has a lot of marketing experience working with non-profits including churches and other businesses, so his expertise will be valuable for our plans in 2017.

These two are currently working on a brand new website! We all realize that our online presence is weak. In order for us to grow financially beyond our fundraisers and events, we need to increase the online footprint. With that said, finding Shelby’s Way events and what other events we will be attending will be much easier with an online event calendar. Donating will not be as confusing either. You, our donor, will be able to select what outreach program you wish to participate in or just make a regular donation.

Our potential business or corporate sponsors/supporters will find a separate page on the website just for them that explains the different events we have that directly relate to their business and their support of Shelby’s Way. A great advantage to any of our supporters is a yearly package we are now offering for $1,500 that will include them in every Shelby’s Way event through the end of the year. That includes a company four person golf team at our Swingin’ Fore Shelby Golf Scramble in April, and sponsorship at our largest fundraising event, The Hot Rod Hullabaloo.

Another area of growth is media online, TV and radio. The board has allocated a budget this year to produce videos for a church testimonial, PSA announcements and commercials along with video for our website and YouTube channel. We have hired Jason Epperson, owner of Eppic Films, to produce this video and will start shooting on February the 8th. I just can’t express how excited we are to have someone of Jason’s professionalism and experience producing these videos for us.

Events and fundraisers are in high gear! During March Madness, we will be raffling of an autographed basketball by UK coach John Calipari and other UK items. Shelby’s Way has added a new event this year, partnering with Paul Miller Ford for our 1st Annual Deuce’s of the Bluegrass Gathering. This will be a Pre-62 automotive event on April 8th at Paul Miller Ford here in Lexington. It’s designed to promote “Bringing Awareness to Suicide Prevention” along with a great Spring Ford promotion. If you have attended just a simple family backyard BBQ, that’s what to expect this event to be like. There will be food, hot rods, customs, corn hole games and fellowship from 10am till 3pm. Be sure to check the website soon for more information.

The excitement for this years 11th Annual Hot Rod Hullabaloo is far reaching beyond Kentucky and we expect even more growth over last years 580 cars and 2000 plus in attendance. We have teamed up with George McMullen, owner of Re-Made in America “Dog Patch Customs” Tear Drop Trailers. George has donated one of his Vintage Travel Trailers to raffle off at this year’s Hullabaloo to raise money for Shelby’s Way. Someone will win an amazing trailer! Not only is this a great trailer to pull behind their hot rod during travels, but would be great for a family, hunter, hiker or nature explorer to pull behind their car or truck for vacation.

2017 is going to be a great year for Shelby’s Way, but only if we gain support from you, our business community. If you have supported us in these last few years, we hope you return. If Shelby’s Way is new to you, please give us the opportunity to show how our non-profit is saving and helping our community and beyond.
