This year our Hot Rod Hullabaloo grew to 580 cars, that’s another 45 over last year. This event is put on by Shelby’s Way and again for the 10th year it’s free to participants, spectators and vendors. We could not have asked for better weather…low humidity and sunny clear blue skies.I was happy to see a big turnout of spectators from the local community and beyond,it gives a chance for those without a car to participate in the fun, activities and also those bringing a car to show off their rides. This years Downhill Hoodlum Race brought out more entries and a new winner this year (the last 3 years has been the same team winning). With the help of Ed from the Bourbon Trail Bombers C/C we brought back our Hot Wheels Drag Race for kids 12 and under and Mike Wingate from the Bombers hand made the first and second place trophies.
Our money raised comes from donations at the gate,sponsors,T-shirt,souvenir sales and our yearly raffle.
We printed 2500 tickets at $20 each for the chassis giveaway and hoped to raise $50,000.Ticket sales were slow and sold a total of 600 tickets raising $12,000.Shelby’s Way had a 20×20 booth at the NSRA Street Rod Nationals (Thanks to the kindness of NSRA and Bob Reynolds) we grew a lot of support, gained advocates and brought great attention to our non-profit and sold tickets. We spend practically all our time in this industry and love the people Sharing the same passion with them.
Ok back to the Hullabaloo….we raised over $24,000 this year and we desperately needed the finances, because the need has increased in every area we support for our clients.Everyday financial needs have rose in our community and beyond, mental health care has increased and unfortunately Shelby’s Way has helped 6 families this year bury their loved ones lost to Suicide.
We cannot do this without your support and I Pray Blessings on each of you, your help is beyond words and all I can really say is “I Love you all very Much”!
