Through community partnership, fellowship, and a shared passion for hot rods, this event aims to break the stigma surrounding mental well-being and provide direct, life-saving resources to those in need.

About Shelby’s Way

Founded in Lexington, Kentucky, by Mark Cain following the tragic loss of his son, Shelby, to suicide in 2009, Shelby’s Way is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Driven by faith and passion, the organization works tirelessly to educate communities and eliminate the stigma of discussing mental health.

Beyond advocacy, the proceeds raised through Shelby’s Way events directly benefit individuals and families facing difficult times by providing:

• Direct Financial Assistance: Helping clients manage everyday essential financial needs.
• Mental Health Resources: Funding critical mental health care and necessary medications.
• Bereavement Support: Providing financial assistance to help grieving families bury loved ones lost to suicide.

The Partnership: Opposing Cylinders Takes the Highway

This summer, longtime friend and supporter Kevin Svarda, owner of Opposing Cylinders, is turning an incredible cross-country journey into a mission of hope.

After hosting a fundraiser in California from NorCal to SoCal to benefit Ride to Walk, Kevin and a co-driver will embark on a six-day trek back east starting Friday, July 3rd. They will be making the journey in the iconic Muroc Roadster—a high-end, engineered, hand-formed steel masterpiece built in collaboration with Kugel Komponents and Marcel’s Custom Metal.

Kevin will be driving this beautiful hot rod from California to Ohio, arriving at the Goodguy’s Columbus Nationals from July 10th–12th. He will be documenting the entire cross-country adventure live on social media, sharing real-time photos and videos so supporters can experience the trip right along with him. Never one to waste time or fuel, Kevin has generously chosen to bless Shelby’s Way by dedicating this “Ride for Life” to suicide awareness and prevention.

The organizers invite you to join this mission and make a tangible difference. There are multiple ways to contribute to the “Ride for Life” campaign:

1. Pledge Per Mile: You can back Kevin’s journey by donating a specific amount for every mile he drives.

Suggested amount – $0.10 per mile
2. One-Time Donations & Exclusive Merchandise

Donate $50 or more: Receive an exclusive, custom “Ride for Life” t-shirt designed by Brad Conwell at Expression Design Company, along with an official event decal.

3. Purchase a Shirt: “Drive for Life” shirts are also available for individual purchase, with 100% of the proceeds directly benefiting Shelby’s Way.
